Measuring Light Intensity Using STM32

Measuring light intensity is common in our everyday life. Probably everyone has an auto dimming/brightening screen feature in their smartphone. It is based precisely on measuring the light intensity around the device. The measurement is performed continuously while the phone is unlocked. Today I will focus on how we can Read more

Inexpensive HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Rangefinder

Distance measurement is used in everyday life, for example in parking sensors in cars. For robots, distance sensors help them survive a thicket of obstacles, e.g., so that a drone doesn’t smash its propellers against a pole or a wall. Let’s take a look at a very cheap HC-SR04 ultrasonic rangefinder – how it works and how to use it optimally.

Measuring Air Quality with the SDS011

Winter is approaching, so the media will once again be loud about the smog prevailing over Poland. Moreover, the authorities probably have no intention of moving away from coal, so we have to cope with pollution somehow. As a result, air quality sensors have become popular in recent years, and today I’ll be looking at one of them.

Addressable WS2812B LEDs on STM32, Part 3

We have reached the end of the series on WS2812B addressable LEDs. At least for now. In this part, I will discuss splitting an LED strip into fully configurable and independent segments. This means that each segment can operate in a different mode, at a different speed, and have a different length. This gives huge possibilities to tailor it to your needs. Let’s go!

BMP180, BMP280, BME280 on STM32, Part 2

In the previous post I dealt with the popular pressure and temperature sensor BMP180, which is already going out of production. Today I’ll check its younger brothers – the BMP280, which measures temperature and pressure as well, and the BME280, which can additionally check how humid the…
